Family of the Year is in Milwaukee so often it might need to look into getting an apartment here. The folksy Los Angeles band opened for Silversun Pickups and The Joy Formidable at the Rave’s Eagles Ballroom in December, came back a month later to headline a show at Hotel Foster, is at the Rave on Sunday and will be back June 27 to open for fun. at the Marcus Amphitheater. Along with that intense work ethic, the band is pushing its single “Hero” hard, performing the track for the Tap Pre-Show in January before landing appearances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” in the hope of fulfilling some “band to break” buzz that’s been bubbling up this year.

Sunday, it’s sharing the stage with another act possibly on the verge of stardom, The Mowgli’s, a joyous rock ensemble that served up smiles with an optimistic, seize-the-day attitude and big group vocals on last year’s EP “Love’s Not Dead.”
